Jason Wimmer is a tax partner with Wipfli LLP’s financial institutions practice. Jason uses his skills to ensure that clients receive accurate and timely income tax planning and compliance services. He uses his understanding of complex tax laws to maximize tax opportunities for clients. Examples of projects that Jason has provided include:
- Accounting method changes to accelerate tax deductions and defer taxable income, resulting in lower income tax liabilities and improved cash flow
- Conversions from C-corporation to S-corporation status (and analysis of the effect on shareholder groups), thereby eliminating double taxation and providing for increased shareholder stock basis
- Tax minimization projects on the conversion of a federal credit union to a federal mutual savings association, including multistate tax analysis
- Cost segregation studies to accelerate tax deductions and improve cash flow
- Analysis of income tax issues relating to bank acquisitions, including effect on shareholder group, and tax minimization strategies for the same
- Assistance with implementing the recognition, measurement, and disclosure requirements of FIN No. 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes
Jason also has experience representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service and various state departments of revenue.
