Getting older (definitely) and wiser (maybe)
I have one of those milestone birthdays coming up next summer. For me, this is the kind of event that reminds me how grateful I am to be living this life and making plans for the years ahead, but also a time to reflect on those years that are now in the rearview mirror.
I started at Wipfli as a staff consultant in 2006, so I worked with Wipfli’s community financial institution clients through the financial crisis of 2008-2009, but honestly I was limited in my knowledge of how unprecedented those times were at that point. I realize that most folks who are younger than me have never experienced a recessionary period with significant rising interest rates and downward economic trends as adults in the workforce. Many of these same folks are also not aware of what it is like to “do more with less” regarding the current staffing shortage many community institutions are feeling.
Maybe you’re one of those people who have been through this before, or maybe you haven’t. Either way, some key questions you might want to ask yourself include:
- How well does my financial institution lean into new talent, fresh ideas and new technology?
- Is existing leadership properly managing the existing or forthcoming skills gap?
- Does my financial institution have a game plan that encompasses succession and the intersection of technology and people?
Partnering with Wipfli can help you fill in the gaps wherever you land in the spectrum on these questions. Our team members range from those who have sat on your side of the desk and been around the block with the gray hairs to prove it, to those who bring fresh ideas and perspectives with a penchant for technology-enabled solutions.
We can fill in gaps in your current workforce, with outsourced solutions for compliance officers, virtual CISOs or managed IT. We can help you build a technology roadmap, evaluate software selection and implement a CRM. We can even facilitate a board-level strategic plan that helps you chart the path forward.
