March 14: An updated statement on COVID-19

Saturday, March 14, 2020

The global spread of COVID-19 is affecting every one of us.

At Wipfli, we are committed to creating lasting, positive impact for our associates, our clients and our communities.  Right now, we think that means we need to take some steps for the greater good.

For the near term most of our associates will begin to work remotely, and our offices will be thinly staffed to achieve the goal of “social distancing.”

Client and in-office visits and document sharing

We strongly encourage alternatives to in-person meetings through the end of April, especially for more vulnerable persons. We have invested heavily in technology and are able to provide excellent client service without regard to physical location. When an in-person meeting is required, we will work with you directly to ensure appropriate precautions are taken. Alternatives to in-person meetings include virtual meetings, telephone and email.

You can easily share documents and information with us through:

  • Use of our secure online portal - Secure electronic submission of incoming client documents and sharing of your deliverables.  Instruction on access and use can be found here
  • Postal service and drop-box locations (where available)

Tax deadline

As of March 14 there have not been any changes to the tax deadline or filing requirements, but we believe it is likely. If there is no change, we anticipate extending more tax returns than in previous years and if that becomes necessary we will appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Additional resources

We know our clients depend on us to help make important personal and business decisions.

We all know this situation remains fluid and you can expect continued communication from us as circumstances warrant.

Two of Wipfli’s core values are caring and perseverance, and these values are also at the core of our relationship with you.  All of us are being tested by this situation, but we have every confidence in our collective ability to meet the challenge and persevere together.

Thank you for your confidence and trust in Wipfli.  We wish good health to you and those you care about.
